Clinical Assistant
Position Overview
As a Clinical Assistant in our Orthopaedic Outpatient Clinic, you will play a crucial role in supporting the seamless operation of our facility and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to assist in various clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires a compassionate and dedicated individual with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care Support
- Escort patients to examination rooms and assist with preparing them for consultations or treatments.
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and other pertinent patient information accurately.
- Help patients with ambulation and mobility, as needed.
- Prepare and assist with medical procedures, injections, and cast/splint applications under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care and home instructions.
Clinic Support
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness of examination rooms and treatment areas.
- Restock medical supplies, instruments, and disposables as needed.
- Assist in managing clinic schedules and appointment bookings.
- Facilitate smooth patient flow and minimize waiting times.
- Collaborate with the administrative team to manage medical records and documentation accurately and securely.
Equipment Maintenance
- Assist in maintaining and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.
- Report any malfunctioning equipment and coordinate with appropriate personnel for repairs.
Infection Control
- Adhere to infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff.
Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Collaborate with other clinical assistants and support staff to maintain a cohesive and efficient team.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in orthopaedic care.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in medical assisting or related fields are advantageous (ATC, CMA, CNA, EMT, LPN, etc.).
- Previous experience as a clinical assistant, medical assistant, or in a similar healthcare role is preferred.
- Basic understanding of orthopaedic procedures, treatments, and medical terminology.
- Proficient in medical recordkeeping and documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
