First outpatient total joint replacement performed at The Advanced Center for Surgery

Robert Hill, D.O., hip and knee joint replacement surgeon at Vero Orthopaedics & Neurology, recently performed the first total joint replacement in an outpatient setting at The Advanced Center for Surgery, an ambulatory surgery center located at 1355 37th Street, Suite 304. The outpatient total joint replacement procedure uses a technique that allows the patient to go home just hours after surgery, as opposed to the traditional procedure in which a patient has a minimum of a one-night hospital stay.

There are several advantages of the outpatient procedure, including:

  • Increased patient satisfaction due to recovering in the comfort of their own home
  • Reduced risk of infection from the hospital environment
  • Reduced cost due to elimination of overnight stay

“We are proud to offer this innovative new option to eligible joint replacement patients,” says Dr. Hill. “This is another example of Vero Orthopaedics & Neurology’s dedication to offering our patients the most advanced, state-of-the-art treatments and procedures.”
